The Difference Between VG & PG

If you’ve been following along with our blog, you might have noticed that we often reference the two different base liquids that are used to make eLiquid: VG & PG. You might have some idea of what they are, but do you know why they’re different? We’re going to compare and contrast the two and see just what makes them so unique and how they’re used to create different types of eLiquid.

• Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

VG is what AmericaneLiquidStore.com uses as a base for all of our American Made eLiquid products. We’ve made the choice to use VG for a couple of reasons, including customer sensitivity to PG based eLiquids. While both liquids are completely safe for human consumption, some people have reported minor irritations or allergic reactions to PG, much like a food allergy. To provide our customers with the best product that we can, we made the choice to go with VG over PG to eliminate any possibility of these reactions.

Another reason we love VG based eLiquids so much is because of the strong, smooth vape that you get from a VG base. VG is known for producing a heavier, longer lasting vapor that many people find more flavorful and easier to vape. Plus, with PG, you vapor is more likely to dissipate quickly, meaning you’ll have to vape more than with VG.

Finally, VG just tastes better! PG is known for having a strong sweet taste that can be overwhelming and off-putting. If you’ve ever overloaded your cartridge and drawn PG liquid into your mouth, you’ll know what we mean; it’s just unpleasant! VG is nearly tasteless, meaning even if you accidentally overdraw, there won’t be the harsh flavor rush that PG vapers experience.

• Propylene Glycol (PG)

PG is very popular among many manufacturers because of its physical properties. VG tends to be a bit thicker than PG and electronic cigarettes were designed for eLiquid with the thickness of PG. Therefore, some manufacturers have had trouble perfecting a VG based eLiquid that functions properly. Instead of mixing in some PG to thin the eLiquid, AmericaneLiquidStore.com solved this problem using custom forumulations of flavorings to achieve the right thickness.  So, our VG based eLiquid is very nearly the same thickness as our PG based eLiquid, WITHOUT the PG!

Although we usually make our American Made eLiquids strictly VG at AmericaneLiquidStore.com, we have a few customers who simply prefer PG. No problem!
