Cartridges are another part of electronic cigarettes that many people are familiar with, yet not many people understand the importance of them – besides holding their eLiquid, of course. In order to really see the benefit of this piece of our eCig puzzle, we have to understand how it works! So, here’s a brief introduction to cartridges and how they interact with the rest of your eCig!
First and foremost, you might have guessed, either from use or from the name itself, that a cartridge has one main duty: to hold eLiquid. After its filled, it is inserted on top of the

atomizer. What most people don’t realize is that with this insertion comes the real function of the cartridge: to feed eLiquid to the wick of the atomizer, where it can be heated and atomized into vapor. When the two are paired together, the wick of the atomizer punctures the bottom of the cartridge, allowing eLiquid to flow downward to the wick.

There are a lot of things people need to understand before using a cartridge though. For example, overfilling can be a huge problem and lead to issues with your atomizer – namely flooding. Seconds, as with any eCig, when you switch flavors via cartridges you can leave leftover residue from your last cartridge, which can alter your new flavor. These are important to take into account when learning about your eCig!
Though it may not seem like it does a whole lot besides holding your eLiquid while you vape it, truth be told there is more to a cartridge than meets the eye. Remember, without it, you wouldn’t be able to use your eCig at all!
