If you’re new to the extensive world of electronic cigarettes you might very well be confused about all of the terminology and different parts that go into making an e Cigarette function properly. If you’re looking for a place to start your understanding, why not try the basics and learn from the ground up; like with an atomizer?
If you’ve been following along with our blog posts, you’ll already know that a cartomizer is simply the combination of an atomizer and a cartridge. But, if we break that down into its two most simplest forms, we’re still left with something that many people might not be familiar with: an atomizer. What is this essential piece used for and how will we know it when we see it?
Well, an atomizer is easy to distinguish once you’ve come into contact with it. Generally, if you’re using an eCig that has an atomizer, it will be the middle piece in your assembly - right between the battery unit and the cartridge. It’s about half the size of the battery and roughly the same length as the cartridge being attached.
Though all parts of an electronic cigarette are equal in their importance, the atomizer stands out as being very essential because without it, nothing would happen with your eCig! The atomizer is responsible for heating the eLiquid in the attached cartridge so that it can be vaporized. It heats a small metal piece that is surrounded by eLiquid once the cartridge is intact in a process known as “wicking.” Because the eLiquid is directly in contact with the atomizer, it is instantly atomized, as the name implies!
There is a downside to using atomizers however. They tend to burn out over time depending on use. This means that a heavy user of electronic cigarettes might have to replace their atomizer every two weeks, whereas a light user might only find themselves replacing an atomizer every couple of months. It all varies depending on your consistent vaping habits. The good new is that atomizers aren’t very expensive, so replacing them is simple and fairly cost effective.
So now that you know what it is and what it’s used for, you can enjoy using your atomizer with the knowledge of how important it really is!
