One of the great features of eLiquid and electronic cigarettes is the ability to choose your own nicotine preferences. Options range from super high doses (36mg/mL) all the way down to very low doses (6mg/mL). Even people who wish to enjoy an electronic without the presence of nicotine can do so with a variety of zero nicotine eLiquids. No matter how you like your vape, you can choose the right level at any time!
What happens when you want to change your habits, though? Let’s say you’ve been a smoker for some time, who has since switched to electronic cigarettes with 24mg/mL eLiquid. This has always been your perfect level, but now you need to switch for some reason. What do you do? Luckily enough, there’s a process that we’ve talked a little about over the course of our blog called “stepping” that can help you make the necessary change.
We’ve found out through research that 24mg/mL is the most common nicotine level right now, so for the purpose of this explanation, we’re going to use the example of stepping down.
Starting at 24mg/mL, you can immediately reduce your nicotine level to 18mg/mL, an increment of 6mg/mL. For some people, this might not really make a different – but for others this could make a world of difference! It all depends on your tastes. For this example, let’s use the worst case scenario – you hate it. Never fear! There are plenty of things you can do to try and recoup your favorite level without actually stepping back up.
First, try changing your base liquid. For some, flipping from PG to VG or vice-versa can have a profound effect on flavor, consistency and vapor, not to mention throat hit and other factors. Switching your base liquid can make it feel like you’ve gone back up to your perfect level, even though you’ve maintained the step down.
Another great thing to try is expanding your flavor choices. People who often vape the same flavor become accustomed to how it feels when they vape it at a certain level. You’ll immediately notice the difference if you change something that you’re used to day in and day out. Switching flavors might be exactly what you need to break your habit down to a more diverse selection of tastes. Plus, you won’t even notice the difference in nicotine with a new flavor because you’re tasting it for the first time.
