No matter what your hobby or lifestyle choices are, there’s always going to be a certain degree of language involved. If you’re an athlete, you’re familiar with terms that are associated with the game. If you’re a pilot, you’re going to use terminology that most people wouldn’t use in normal conversation. It’s no different with eCigs: they’ve got a language all their own!
The first thing to note in electronic cigarette nomenclature is the slang terms associated with hardware and products. Here are a few examples of different terms that you might here when talking about your eCig:
PV: Personal vaporizer or PV is commonly used in place of eCig when describing the actual electronic cigarette istelf.
Cartos: Short for cartomizers. This term is commonly used when referencing the types of cartomizers that you use.
Atty: Short for atomizer. Used in much the same way Cart is used.
PCC: Personal charging case. This is used to describe carrying cases that also have a charge function for your eCig.
Rig: This term is commonly used by people who modify their eCigs to include custom settings. A mod is the result of changes made to an eCig.
Other terms may refer strictly to the accessories for an electronic cigarette, like the liquid or actions associated with using an eCigarette:
Vaping: You’ve probably heard this term before, but it’s a good one to throw in the list anyways. Vaping is the act of using an electronic cigarette, much like smoking is to a traditional cigarette.
Dripping: Dripping refers to filling an electronic cigarette with eLiquid and is called such because of the action that occurs: a slow drip into the cartomizer or cartridge.
eLiquid, e-juice, smoke juice: Are all names that are commonly associated with the liquid that goes into an electronic cigarette. There’s no actual name for this liquid, so it goes by many names, these three are just the most common.
VG or PG: Both of these abbreviations refer to the two most common base liquids of eLiquid; vegetable glycerin and propalyne glycol. These base liquids, mixed with flavorings and nicotine, form the foundation of the eLiquids that we love!
