Electronic cigarettes may just be coming into their prime right now, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a long succession of eCigs in the past. In fact, eCigs have been around for some time now and only recently evolved into the sophisticated alternative to smoking that we know and love today. Let’s take a look at how electronic cigarette came to be what they are today:
In the beginning, an electronic cigarette was more of a machine than something people could really use. They were larger and bulkier than regular cigarettes and didn’t have anywhere near the technology that we have today. These early electronic cigarettes were almost always used by people with lung problems or ailments that kept them in the hospital.
Another downside to these very early electronic cigarettes was the almost non-existent production of vapor. Vapor was still a factor of eCigs, but the amount produced was only a fraction of what we can achieve today with the right liquid and atomizers. This also led to one other issue with eCigs: they overheated. Sometimes, if you were constantly vaping, the eCig would heat up to dangerous level; even melting some of the parts!
After these initial electronic cigarettes came the models that we might familiarize ourselves with a bit more. Although they didn’t feature any of the excellent technology that we have today, they had the look and feel of traditional electronic cigarettes. About the same size as a traditional cigarette and the weight of our current electronic cigarettes, these fledgling products were the first signs of what we currently use.
The downside to these early, modern models was again, the vapor production. Along with bad vapor, there was also not a lot of variety when it came to eLiquid or flavoring. Flavors were often limited to tobacco or menthol and both of these left a lot to be desired. It wasn’t until later on that people started to prefect flavors and achieve optimal vapor production.
The models that we enjoy today have come a long way since the early electronic cigarettes. We now have excellent functionality, great flavors and reliable parts. We’ve even evolved our eCigs so that there are different variations for different people. The advent of tanks even opened the door for a new breed of eCigarette users.
