In the wide world of people who are smokers and non-smokers, it’s generally a universal understanding of what a cigarette is and how it works. What might not be so clear, however, is the concept of an electronic cigarette and vaping. Because these inventions are so new and relatively small compared to the population of people who are smokers, it might be new for a lot of people to see you vaping.
How do you explain to people what vaping is and how it works?
Well, the first thing you’re going to have to make clear is the concept of an electronic cigarette. Because it’s the basis for vaping in general, people might not understand vaping unless you first explain the hardware associated with it and how it works. So how do you do that?
It’s easy! Start by courteously explaining that an electronic cigarette and a traditional cigarette are very different. For one, electronic cigarettes are actually an electronic device that has several parts. Try explaining the concept of an atomizer, cartomizer, cartridge and battery, to give someone an idea of the various components that atomize eLiquid into vapor. Once they’ve got an undestanding of these basic parts, you can then begin to explain how vapor is made, with the help of eLiquid.
eLiquid is easy to explain – just tell someone that it’s liquid, with nicotine and flavoring, that is heated into a vapor. They might be wary about the nicotine in eLiquid, but you can assure them that once eLiquid is turned into vapor, they’re at no risk for any secondhand effects that the nicotine might have. After that, it’s just a process of explaining how everything works together to form a functioning eCigarette!
Remember, when people are unsure of a new thing, they tend to be apprehensive to learning about it or trying it. It’s important to make someone who’s never seen or used an eCig comfortable and familiar with this new device. When people see that it’s no harm to them and is actually a smoking alternative, they’ll be more inclined to accept electronic cigarettes, learn about them and maybe use them themselves!
